Founded in 1976, the Denton Community Band is a group of committed musicians from a variety of backgrounds and professions who simply enjoy playing and performing. In addition to providing a fun and challenging outlet for our musicians, we offer a variety of free and low cost performances to the North Texas community. In 1986, the band was named the Official Sesquicentennial Band of Denton County, and in 2023 it was chosen by the City of Denton to receive a grant designed to support individuals and organizations in the arts, music, and culture sector in accordance with American Rescue Plan funding objectives.
Any interested adult musicians with concert band experience may join the full band. No membership fees or dues, auditions, professional music career, or recent band experience required!
Members of the Jazz Ensemble are selected from the full band, based upon the needs of the Music Director/Conductor.
In addition to offering free band concerts for the community, the Denton Community Band has performed, free of charge, at community events such as:
Denton Holiday Lighting Festival
Dedication of the All-War Memorial at the Courthouse-on-the-Square and the flag pole at IOOF Cemetery
Hearts for the Hungry Benefit Dinner/Dance
